HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADDOX!!!!!

It is hard to believe that 5 years ago today I became an aunt for the first time to this cute little boy named Maddox Kenneth Schaaf:

Maddox - Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you had a great day!

It has been awhile...

Ok, I am sorry that it has been so long since the last post! Things have been pretty busy here, with getting into the grove of going to school, packing lunches, starting speech therapy and soccer!

Gunnar is loving school. He is learning so much and loves his teacher. He has his first field trip coming up this Wednesday, so that will be fun. It will be his first field trip and my first time chaperoning!! We are going to the Delafield Children's Museum, which we spent a lot of time at last winter.

Anyways, getting back to school, as I mentioned previously, Gunnar is loving school and adjusted just fine - it was me (mommy) who got the first note home from school:

Yes, as you can see I put grapes in Gunnar's lunch and DIDN'T CUT THEM IN HALF!!!! Can you believe it??!!! Needless to say, I will not do that again, and I am keeping this to be sure that I don't receive another "NOTE"!!!

First Day of Preschool....

Dear Gunnar,
Today was your first day of preschool, and it didn't surprise me one bit that you were anxious to go, and had no problem when I dropped you off. I, on the other-hand had an overwhelming sense of sadness, because of how fast you are growing up.

Here is what you looked like on your first day of preschool:

Here is a picture of you outside your classroom:

It's been a delight and a privilege to see how much you have grown into this cute little preschooler that is so well-adjusted, and I can't wait for the coming years to see you grow. I am so proud of the boy I sent off to school this morning. It was so fun to pick you up and hear how your day was learning about bugs, and crickets, and to hear from your teacher how helpful you were.

Thank you Gunnar, for choosing me to be your Mommy!

Love,

Mommy

Pool Fun!!!

Sunday was one of the last warm days of the Summer that is left, so we decided to take Gunnar to the "water park". The swim lessons that Gunnar has been in since he was 6 months old are now paying off! He swam all afternoon and was underwater 75% of the time. Here are some pictures.

First things first, must have a good breakfast!

Swim trunks - CHECK!, Swim shirt - CHECK! Goggles, CHECK!

Misson accomplished!!!

New Friend!!

Friday we had a picnic at our house with my co-workers. It was lots of fun and one of my co-workers brought along her adorable niece, Ameria. As you can see from the pictures below, Gunnar and Ameria got along great. The night ended with Ameria yelling from the car as they were leaving "Gunnar, I am inviting you to my birthday party!!!". I think everyone had a nice time, but sorry to say I only took pictures of Gunnar & Ameria :-)! We can just add her to the list of Gunnar's adorable little girlfriends!

Ok - is she adorable or what? Of course, I already know that Gunnar is adorable!!!

Here they are having a quick bite to eat before they go back to playing.

The Park...

Well, the "Park" is almost done. I should of taken pictures of how it looked when we first got it, because it doesn't look at all like it did. Steve spent many hours staining, putting up the rock wall and the top part, and spray painting. He did a great job and even though there is more staining to do, (we have to wait until the wood is dry) Gunnar is enjoying his new "Park". I am sure he will have lots of wonderful memories playing on his "Park"!

Here are a couple more pictures:

Wood for playground $35; cost for new swings $30; cost for stain $18, new tarp for fort $30; "rocks" for the rock wall $60; "ships wheel" $33; Smile on Gunnar's face while playing on his new park: PRICELESS!!!
